Lin Chen is the CEO + founder of Pink Moon. Sustainable beauty has been a core component of her professional life for nearly a decade, and her experience and passion for holistic living ultimately led Lin to create Pink Moon, a NYC based consultancy that aims to uplift and radically transform the beauty industry.

In less than 3 years, Lin has been lucky enough to work with 20 various brands in different stages of growth. She’s intentionally built a business that works solely with female-founded brands that value sustainability, philanthropy, and holistic wellness because she believes that these values are key to creating a more conscious and empowering beauty space.⁣

When Lin initially created Pink Moon in 2017, her goal was to elevate women by helping brands that were striving to create a better beauty industry. This was important to Lin because of her own experiences with transformative self-care.

Discovering and practicing self-care has positively changed Lin’s life, and she wants to offer other women the opportunity to experience this, too. This is why she has expanded the Pink Moon consultancy into a highly curated concept shop.

So many women give of themselves endlessly and sacrifice their own wellbeing as a result. Lin wants women, in every phase of life, to feel worthy and loved and it’s her hope is that everything she creates with Pink Moon helps to facilitate this.

I’m so excited for you to connect with Lin, check out her work, and follow along as she continues to create a space that speaks to women respectfully, honors women by providing them with products that are consciously created, and seeks to understand the needs of women to help them feel supported on their ever changing journeys with self-care.

I'd love it if you'd introduce yourself, what you do, and what you're working on.

My name is Lin and I'm the founder of Pink Moon. Pink Moon originally started off as a boutique consultancy that focused on helping female-founded, eco-minded, and ethical beauty brands grow. I've more recently expanded Pink Moon into a digital wellcare and retail space. For me the retail space has been an expression of pure joy, because it allows me to help other female entrepreneurs while helping other women experience transformative self-care. I'm now working on expanding the digital wellcare space and launching a global social networking platform for women in every stage of life. Community is an enormous part of the self-care experience, and I'd love to create a safe space that facilitates connection.

How did you get started?

I've been in the eco-beauty space for almost a decade. My professional foray into the industry was in college, as an intern for 100% Pure. That eventually led me to working in client relations at Ayla Beauty, and then as the Sales Director at Bottega Organica. After working in so many dimensions of eco-beauty, I decided to venture out on my own and start Pink Moon!

What inspired the work that you're doing?

The concept of giving back has been a core part of my life for many years; my mother in particular was the person who taught me that there was tremendous value in helping others. As I grew older and truly delved into self-care, and I saw how much it helped me, I knew I needed to find a way to share this with other women. I desperately want other women to know what it is to build their own safe haven, and to fall in love with themselves by taking care of the body they live in every day.

What is your biggest passion? Do you feel like you're living your passion and purpose?

My biggest passion in life is giving back and finding dynamic ways to help others. Pink Moon has allowed me to do this in ways I'd never imagined. I get to help female entrepreneurs through my consultancy, and help women create moments of self-care in their lives through the digital wellcare space! I'm also very proud to say that Pink Moon as a company is donating to various charities. Since our launch in mid June, we’ve given back to over a dozen charities!

What is your joy blueprint? What lights you up, brings you joy, and makes you feel the most alive?

The ability to give back is honestly what brings me the most joy. Pink Moon was intentionally built so that we can do this as much as possible. Not only through uplifting women through our work, but also by working with brands who value sustainability, animal welfare, ethical ingredient sourcing, and philanthropy as much as I do! Pink Moon aims to create a positive impact in everything we do.

How do you live intentionally? Are there tools/resources/practices that you rely on to help you stay mindful and grounded?

Self-care is essential for me. A big one for me is actually washing my face and really taking the time to do facial massage. Doing gua sha is also tremendously helpful for releasing tension in my face, neck, shoulders, and chest. Physically and mentally, yoga has been tremendously helpful. I also recommend that everyone do a digital detox. We all deserve a break from our screens.

What would your younger self think about what you're doing now?

I think she would be inspired by me. And that's something I'm really proud to say. When I was younger, I really wanted to have a meaningful career that allowed me to make the world a better place in some way. She would be happy to see that I achieved that goal on my own terms.

Do you have a go-to mantra or affirmation?

My go-to affirmation is "I am enough." It took me a while to learn to accept myself and to feel like I was capable of self-love and independence. The season of life that paved my path towards self-acceptance was actually when I started Pink Moon!

What is your biggest dream?

To travel the world and help people along the way. I've been slowly building up a list of spaces where I'd like to spend time as a volunteer. Eventually, I'd actually like to create sanctuary spaces (for people and animals). I think it's important that we all have the opportunity to be somewhere that allows us to feel safe.
