After graduating from Harvard University with a degree in architectural design and economics, Liesl started working with Ever Widening Circles as our COO and took up their mission to expand into education with EWCed in 2018, and explore how they could bring positive media to healthcare in 2019 with Amazing World Media.
In today’s episode, Liesl and I chat about Ever Widening Circles, where it started and their mission, and how Ever Widening Circles has changed her perspective and reignited her lifelong passion for finding beauty in the world. Liesl shares the power of curiosity and slow, continuous progress, why we need to look at media and what we consume like a well-rounded diet, and the impact of sharing good news. Founded by Dr. Lynda Ulrich in 2014, their aim has been to celebrate the progress happening around the world. Even then, Dr. Lynda saw the negative news cycle was wearing her patients down, deepening their sense of overwhelm. When she found no unbiased place on the internet for news about meaningful progress in the world and the good things happening, she created it.
They curate stories of inspiring technologies, good news, scientific breakthroughs, extraordinary features of the natural world, remarkable creativity, and newsworthy ideas from thought leaders around the globe—without mention of politics or a commercial agenda. The world needs a trusted place that is an oasis from the overwhelmingly negative news cycle, political acrimony, and relentless advertising - and that’s exactly what EWC has created.
Together with her mother Dr. Lynda, Liesl is building a media company intent on changing the negative dialogue about our times. As a lifelong learner, Liesl is always looking to inspire curiosity, connect people to a wider world, and give us all a sense of possibility.

It was so much fun to sit down with Liesl to chat about her journey working with EWC, the impact of sharing good news and changing our perspective, how we can continue to celebrate ourselves and our collective progress, and what’s she’s been up to during this pandemic.
