Nancy Dunson is an incredibly talented professional makeup artist, the founder of Beautiful You, and the Beauty Editor of AYME Magazine. Nancy provides onsite makeup services for any occasion, and her dedication to making everyone feel beautiful shines through everything she does. She enhances and compliments one's natural beauty by creating the most beautiful, perfect look every time.

I’ve loved getting to know Nancy over the last year, and she is talented, giving, and beautiful inside and out. When it comes to makeup, enhancing the eyes is her personal favorite since they are "the window to your soul and what people notice first when they look at you."

For Nancy, being a makeup artist is more than a job - it’s her passion. She brings creativity, organization, and joy to her work, and any bride that works with her walks away feeling confident and beautiful. Nancy's goal is to listen to the client's vision for themselves on their special day to transform their dreams into a reality. I'd love it if you'd introduce yourself, what you do, and what you're working on.

I’m Nancy Dunson and I’m a makeup artist. I have two big goals for 2019 to expand myself: start a blog and a YouTube channel. The kicker there is, I have an extremely difficult time being in front of the camera!

How did you get started?

I signed up for one of those direct sell companies to get the discount and the discount ONLY. However, my director talked me into doing a wedding with her and I was hooked. I was terrible at selling the product and “sharing the opportunity” but I loved the art of it.

What inspired the work that you're doing?

I loved the reaction I got when a bride or her mom looked in the mirror for the first time after I completed their makeup. The smiles, the hugs, and sometimes the tears were all so overwhelming and made my heart so full.

What is your biggest passion? Do you feel like you're living your passion and purpose?

Eight years later, I still get that same heartwarming feeling. I think because I still get those same feelings, I am living my passion and purpose.

What is your joy blueprint? What lights you up, brings you joy, and makes you feel the most alive?

The simple things bring me joy. I love my family; my husband, my children. I dream of being able to stay home with them.

How do you live intentionally? Are there tools/resources/practices that you rely on to help you stay mindful and grounded?

I think I really rely on my husband to stay grounded. It’s not that I’m high-maintenance or anything, but sometimes I get bogged down with too many details. He can get my brain to slow down and think through something that I may have rushed into. He’s even gotten to the point in my career that he will look at my work and tell me what I should have done differently.

What would your younger self think about what you're doing now?

I think my younger self would think it’s pretty cool what I’m doing because “Makeup Artist” was never on my radar.

Do you have a go-to mantra or affirmation?

I am good enough. Second guessing myself is what I seem to do most. My favorite quote: “Beauty begins the moment you decide to be yourself.” Coco Chanel

What is your biggest dream?

I want to be an inspiration. I want someone to say that because of me they didn’t give up.
