Maggie Moor is a visionary, healer, psychotherapist and author of “I AM: Your Guide to the Union of Mind, Body for Total Awareness.”

As a child, Maggie was raised by academics and artists on the campus of a prestigious arts college. Her family attended Quaker meetings weekly, where she learned a deep reverence for all humankind, nature, and a dedication to peaceful living. She studied dance, music and theatre and has been blessed to travel much of the world.

Maggie also experienced some difficult trauma in early teenage years, which turned into deep bouts of overwhelming anxiety, and suicidal depressions that lead her to homelessness, and dangerous situations. By age 30, she found myself in a spiritual, emotional, and physical bottom. She slowly awakened to the realization that something bigger than her mind was keeping her alive–– inside of her and despite her own thoughts, and fears, is a truly deep desire to live out her potential. Maggie became consumed with listening to her heart beat with a new curiosity, and her anxiety, slowly shifted.

Maggie’s healing path included study of Tantric yoga and meditation in Varanasi, India; Reiki Mastery: Gestalt talk therapy; and eventually a degree in Psychoanalysis. Today, she have been gifted to be able to work with many people as a healer and therapist, and she has developed the perceptive and intuitive gifts she understood as a child, to listen to the voice of her heart - and this is what she shares with others.

I’m so excited for you to connect with Maggie, check out her work and her new book, and follow along as she continues to to be of service to helping others develop this interconnection with all of life, “the life force.” Maggie awakened to the Spiritual understanding that life is about nurturing the interconnected love we all share, and it’s her hope to share that with all of you.

I'd love it if you'd introduce yourself, what you do, and what you're working on.

MM: Hello, my name is Maggie Moor. I am a visionary, healer, psychotherapist and author of “I AM: Your Guide to the Union of Mind, Body for Total Awareness.” I have spent the past ten years studying and developing ways of helping people heal trauma and connect to their internal emotional lives and their natural sources of energy and power. I currently counsel individuals in Eastern spirituality, yoga, and integrative mind and body therapy, specializing in working with people who experience difficulties in intimacy and in their relationships.

How did you get started?

I devoted several years to the study of Buddhist meditation practice, which included a concentrated study at a Varanasi Temple in Northwestern India. I then pursued a Psychoanalytic degree and worked at The Treatment Service with patients recovering from anxiety, and at Rikers Island facilitating groups for women recovering from trauma and addiction.

What inspired the work that you're doing?

As I began my journey healing my own experiences of childhood sexual abuse, addiction and other dangerous situations, I realized the importance of unifying the mind and body to cultivate self-love, inner peace and develop my potential here on Earth. I felt called fo help and inspire healing for others who have endured similar experiences in their lives. Drawing on my own life experience, Eastern practices of mindfulness, yoga, and sensuality, as well as contemporary Western psychoanalytic thought and brain science, I was motivated to develop my book, “I AM.”

What is your biggest passion? Do you feel like you're living your passion and purpose?

Honestly, after all that I have been through and recovered from in life, I found that the most fundamentally important thing in life is to develop a beautiful internal connection to the natural sources of energy in my body, by focusing on mind, body and spirit. From the wellspring of the force of natural vitality, I am inspired to develop potential and be of service to others healing and awakening. This is my passion and purpose. When you focus on self-love by connecting to these natural inner resources, you will find that you can live a richer, fuller life filled with connection to others and creatively inspired and empathic professional development.

What is your joy blueprint? What lights you up, brings you joy, and makes you feel the most alive?

As I began healing from deep spiritual and physical crisis, I was called to fill my life doing things that make me want to keep living, things that my heart feels called toward and that I feel truly joyful doing. For me, that is writing, recording and performing music, disciplining and training in athletics and body sculpting, visiting remote beaches and natural dwellings, and being of service to other people’s healing and connection to their own internal force of energy and potential within.

How do you live intentionally? Are there tools/resources/practices that you rely on to help you stay mindful and grounded?

When I first wake, I breathe and check in with my body, sensing tension areas and feeling into my emotional state. I consistently return to breath throughout the day. I find honing skills, and truly listening to others helps me stay grounded.

What would your younger self think about what you're doing now?

As a young girl, I spent a lot of time in nature, creating poetry, tending gardens, and meditating. I felt called then to use my natural sensitivity to the life force, and ability to resonate with the feelings of other people, to care for people, animals and help promote the growth of all living beings.

Do you have a go-to mantra or affirmation?

I go to breathe. I don’t tend toward affirmations but rather to seeking to resonate with the aliveness in my body, the settle into presence and accept my emotional state, and intuitive perceptions.

What is your biggest dream?

Helping people calm anxiety, open to their hearts and thus be of service to the biggest dream: world peace and love as the guiding source.
