Cathy Jean Norman - It’s All in the Mixx
Cathy Jean Norman
Cathy Jean Norman was born in California and spent her early years in Caracas, Venezuela until the age of 13. She describes her childhood as being surrounded by silent applause from a very encouraging family.
She graduated from Unity ministerial school in 1983 and went on to get 2 Master’s degrees. One master’s degree in Theology and the other in Spiritual Psychology.
After her 37 years of being in the ministry…Cathy took on a new endeavor. An endeavor in which her encouraging family applauds loudly! She has a passion to bring sugar-free, gluten free products to families and individuals who want a healthier lifestyle. Out of her passion and along with her business partner Hope DeLong, they have created Keto baking mixes called “It’s All in the Mixx”. Currently they are in over 500 markets across the nation and they keep on growing beyond their wildest expectations! You can see their products at www.itsallinthemixx.com
They also have another product, Birthright Bone Broth, which you can find in presently in Wholefoods on the east coast. https://birthrightnutrition.com/ On top of all that, she has written her 1st book, Sermon on the Molehill available on Amazon
Presently she lives west of the moon and east of the sea in a little Shangri-La town called Ojai (Calif.) with her husband Steve Blain and their little white dogs Pippa and Frankie. Together with their fondness for healthy cooking, storytelling and Sunday family dinners, Cathy and Steve love to travel and explore this marvelous planet we call home.
I’m excited for you to connect with Cathy, check out her work and products, and follow along as she continues to bring goodwill and good food to others.
I'd love it if you'd introduce yourself, what you do, and what you're working on.
Absolutley!
How did you get started?
The long version: The Universe made me do it! The short version: My husband bit into an Italian Lemon Rocotta Cake and I was able to turn it around into a Keto Lemon Ricotta Cake
What Inspired the work you’re doing?
My mother took my nrother and I off of sugar when she took a workshop from a man that wrote the book The Sugar Blues. Not being able to eat sugar when I went to family functions, social events, or just going to have a meal with others. Therefore, neccesity is the mother of invention. All my life I would experiment making sugar free desserts...(they werent always very good!)
What is your biggest passion? Do you feel like you're living your passion and purpose?
To serve others in living a happy, healthy life. Whether I am a teacher of spiritual principles, or a provider of healthy and pure products. Absolutley!
What is your joy blueprint? What lights you up, brings you joy, and makes you feel the most alive?
My Joy Blueprint is being in the kitchen creating new recipes that are gluten-free, sugar-free and guilt-free and then recording them on Youtube to be able to share with others that are looking for a Keto way of eating.
How do you live intentionally? Are there tools/resources/practices that you rely on to help you stay mindful and grounded?
I have a 2-hour practice every morning. It involves reading something spiritual, journaling, then I have a gratitude journal which also includes my prayers for the day. Then I follow that up with a meditation in my hot tub! If I get off-kilter during the day...I have a practice of tuning into the good of the world: Those who have just received the job of their dreams, a baby being born to happy parents, those hearing the words 'I Love you' for the 1st time, getting a clean bill of health, being told some kind of good news, those that are living an amazing life of great happiness... That practice always gets me grounded.
What would your younger self think about what you're doing now?
She would be so proud! I'm sure she would be thinking, "Hey you took something that kinda sucked and made it into a Higher calling...a passion! Good for you! It may not look good bu there is good in it!"
Do you have a go-to mantra or affirmation?
Trust, Cathy! The Universe has ingenious ways and means of taking care of you and your family!
What is your biggest dream?
On a physical level: To eventually be bought out by a bigger company that will carry on our values in an even more massive scale. And in doing so, it would be a good day of great fiancial return for those who invested and trusted in us and our company. On a spiritual level: To continue to follow the Universe in making a difference in positive way.
