Lessons in Flexibility with Austen Tosone
Austen Tosone joins us to share a lesson she’s learned about flexibility, in both her career and personal life, the growth that came from this experience, and the joy she’s found. Her reflections, honesty, and vulnerability will leave you feeling inspired, and remind you that change will come, and it’s about how we choose to respond to these changes and allow ourselves to pivot, that makes all the difference.
Austen Tosone is the beauty content director at Jumprope and a digital content creator based in NYC. She started out her career in editorial working at magazines like Nylon and Interview and after she experienced industry layoffs she went out on her own as a full-time freelancer for 1.5 years before landing at Jumprope. She has been hired by brands like Glossier, The New York Times, Revlon, and Sorel to create fashion and beauty content for her social media channels and blog, Keep Calm and Chiffon. She's also written for publications like Refinery29, HuffPost, Teen Vogue, and more.
“I’ve really learned that the world doesn’t end if the plan has to change. I think playing out the worst case scenario helps a lot because it asks you to confront the realities, and that they’re not that bad! It makes it seem way less scary.”
