Wolff graduated from Eckerd College with a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Development and a Minor in Anthropology, focusing on cultural anthropology. After receiving her degree with an award in “Excellence in Human Development”, she used her own 30 plus years of personal and spiritual development, along with her education, to fulfill her life’s purpose of becoming a transformational coach. Her goal is to inspire individuals to make great changes in the world by becoming their best selves. She believes that being open and aware of who we are and how we can improve is the path to positive change within ourselves and the world around us. leads.

I'd love it if you'd introduce yourself, what you do, and what you're working on.

My name is Rachael Wolff. I’m an author, speaker, and transformational coach. My book Letters from A Better Me: How Becoming an Empowered Woman Transforms the World was released February 18, 2020 from Mango Publishing.  Right now, I’m working on how to help people keep their immune systems elevated by remaining conscious and calm during challenging times like we are in right now. Our perspective is our power or our prison, so my focus is on reminding people what we do have control over, which is our thoughts, actions, reactions, and responses. Since I can’t be with people live in person right now, I’m using my book, blog, and social media to help people find meaning in the chaos.

How did you get started?

I spent my 20s traveling around the United States and Canada working as a sales trainer. I spoke at both large and small venues, along with working with individual businesses in the indoor tanning industry. I loved helping people figure out what they wanted and what their goals were, then I would teach them how what they were doing right now could help them achieve their goals. I was just about to turn thirty and I wanted a family, so my priorities shifted, but my love for learning grew. I found myself drawn to human development. I took classes and became a pre-school teacher in my pursuit to be the best mother I could be. Soon my passion for learning got so strong that I went back to school full-time and got my B.A. in Human Development with a minor in Anthropology. I REALLY wanted to understand the why and the how of the way we are as a community and individuals. Once I graduated, I couldn’t stop writing and that’s when FromALovingPlace.com was born. From there, doors started opening.

What inspired the work that you're doing?

I’ve survived multiple traumatic events where people would tell me how my life would be or wouldn’t be because of my experiences. I was told I was a victim so many times that I started living in a victim mentality, which had devastating affects on how I was choosing to live. I soon became a victim of myself and I abused her so badly that I thought she deserved it when someone else started to verbally and mentally do it. When I got myself out of that kind of thinking, it changed my life. Going through those times made me realize just how much power we do have to change our lives through the power of perspective. Taking the journey to discover the power of perspective from fear-based thinking to love-based thinking opened my world in SO many ways. It gave me the tools to take on any challenge in a way that would lift me up instead of tear me down. After seeing what this has done for my life, I wanted to help as many people as I could.

What is your biggest passion? Do you feel like you're living your passion and purpose?

My biggest passion is exploring perspectives of truth. I love seeing how I can turn any fear-based thought into a love-based one and the difference that makes within me. That is why I named my blog From A Loving Place. Getting through life’s challenges from a loving place is how I embrace my joy on a daily basis. I definitely feel like I’m living my passion and purpose. Everything I’ve experienced in my life is a blessing, not because I didn’t struggle, but because I found meaning in the struggle. I discovered what the struggles had to teach me, and my life is better for it.

What is your joy blueprint? What lights you up, brings you joy, and makes you feel the most alive?

My joy blueprint is understanding the power of perspective. Nature is the easiest place to go for me to find my AWE, and my AWE is where joy lives. When I can take in a moment, and it makes me feel the need to take that deep breath in and exhale fully, I’ve reached the AWE. I see the miracles of life and breathe them in. No matter what is happening around me, I can get there when I hear birds, see flowers, watch the water, feel the wind, taste the rain, or feel the grass beneath my feet. I’m alive in this moment, and that is something to feel joy about.

How do you live intentionally? Are there tools/resources/practices that you rely on to help you stay mindful and grounded?

Yes, most days I choose to live intentionally. That is not to say that I don’t have my days where I don’t. I have lots of tools. I mention many in my book and on my blog, but here is one that I will give that is very fitting for the times. This is a centering exercise I use to be in the moment.

Centering with a 20 second hand wash:

Find a soap that has a smell that helps you connect to a positive place in your mind.

Wet your hands—Feel the water touching your skin. What does it feel like?

Add soap—As you are rubbing the soap into your hands take a deep breath in to the count of 10 breathing in the aroma of the soap and paying close attention to how your hands feel with the lather and the sensations of touch as you rub your hands together. Then exhale to the count of 10 as you continue to rub them. Be with your hands. Notice any sensations from the bubbles or the touch. Once you have fully exhaled, take a breath in smelling them one last time.

Rinse—As you rinse the water off your hands, pay close attention to every sensation.

Raise your hands in prayer position—Smell your clean hands with one more deep breath in and out. I say amen, but use whatever word you need to that solidifies the connection for you.

Doing this exercise helps me stay present and centered in the moment I’m in. In reminds what I’m in control of and it gives me space from anything that is trying to steal my joy. In this moment, I’m in complete control of my thoughts, feelings, actions, and reactions. The best part is lately, I’ve been doing this a lot more often not out of fear, but out of the WANT to be conscious and calm. This exercise helps keep me there, and it helps with my overall health, win-win!

What would your younger self think about what you're doing now?

I was a suicidal teen. I didn’t think I would ever be worthy of love or life. If my younger self could see the person I am now, and how much love I have in my life because of my choices on how I live, she would feel the AWE. In that moment, she would know everything is going to work out. She is lovable. She is worthy. She will learn everything she needs to get herself through the dark times.

Do you have a go-to mantra or affirmation?

For me it’s more a question I ask myself, “Is where I am right now where I want to be?” This question reminds me of my choice of perspective. Having this choice empowers me to take action and to do the things I need to do RIGHT NOW. Even if what I need to do is that hand washing exercise, write a letter, or just be aware of the choice I’m making. If I’m struggling to choose joy in the moment, I click on my “Happy” playlist on my phone, and I dance, bop, and/or meditate. I highly suggest everyone make a playlist filled with songs that takes your energy to where you want it to go.

What is your biggest dream?

My biggest dream is to help as many people as I can to find empowerment by taking the journey inward. I want to help people learn the differences between fear-based and loved-based perspectives of truth and actions. When we gain the clarity from within our purpose and vision for the world start representing what we stand for instead of what we are against. As more of us operate from here, the more positive changes we will see in the world. My dream is to help humanity to lift themselves and rise together.
