Kayla Michelle is a sacred femininity and fitness coach who helps babes trust their intuition to manifest their dream bodies and lifestyles. Kayla’s empowering practical methodology, feminine philosophy, and radical responsibility and results strategy is countering the hyper-masculine fitness world so many women fear and feel misunderstood by.
At 16 years old Kayla began the privileged opportunity of a runway model; walking for Ready To Wear and Haute Cotoure designers in San Francisco, Los Angeles, CA and New York, NY. She bought into the cultures distorted standards of beauty and adopted the expectations of the fashion industry. The results was Anorexia and Binge-Purge disordered thinking and eating. After she passed out on the subway, she woke up and realized it was time for a change. She remodeled her world through fitness, and it was her spirits gateway drug to radical up-leveling, self-awareness, and growth.
Today, Kayla’s mission is to help others awaken and live their truth. She is empowering others to better their bodies and learn to trust their intuition fearless. She is a passionate advocate for women’s femininity - and she empowers her client’s with knowledge, awareness, practical tools, and experiences that reveal their value, beauty of their body, and the magic they naturally carry. I'd love it if you'd introduce yourself, what you do, and what you're working on.
My name is Kayla Michelle and I just turned 30 on June 27, 2019. WHEW -- kinda feels like I won! :) I am a Feminine Fitness and Transformation Expert -- helping women build better bodies, fxck fear, and flex their feminine intuition. Currently, I am working on coaching a beautiful group of women in my 28 Day Makeover Online Program AND writing my first book -- “FLEX YOUR FEMININE” -- which will be available on Amazon in January 2020!
How did you get started?
At 16 years old I began the privileged opportunity of working as a runway model; walking runways for Ready To Wear and Haute Couture designers in San Francisco, Los Angeles, CA and New York, NY. I was represented by internationally renowned modeling agency FORD Models, and regularly worked with clientele such as Oscar de la Renta, Calvin Klein, Macy’s, and Saks Fifth Avenue, to name a few. Despite all the good and the glam — I bought into our cultures distorted standards of beauty and I adopted the expectations of the fashion industry. The unfortunate result was Anorexia / Binge-Purge disordered thinking and patterns of eating (or not) that quickly began to take its toll on my overall health and self worth.
My entrance into the fitness industry was marked by my exit from fashion modeling, for health reasons. My doctor had told me that continuing to live in the self-harm cycle I was under would risk my fertility-- taking away my ability to have children someday was a sacrifice I was not willing to make at 19years old. So, I earned my first certification in exercise and nutrition through the International Sports Sciences Association with the intention of empowering myself with knowledge and prioritizing my own health and future.
Fitness (physical transformation) was my spirits gateway drug to radical up-leveling, self-awareness, growth, and sacred feminine awakening.
What inspired the work that you're doing?
A recipe of personal experiences, really. I am a collection of lessons that life has given me:
My family.
Modeling.
An abusive/toxic marriage and divorce in my early twenties.
Competing as an NPC National Bikini Competitor/Bodybuilder (successfully, but not femininely).
A second unhealthy relationship that grew me up a lot.
Being homeless for a few months.
The betrayal of “friends” and the love of real ones.
Working with extremely masculine men in the fitness industry (bosses and coworkers) where there was no room or awareness of womens unique needs in transformation compared to men.
Owning/Operating a business.
Overall, experiences that led me to rely on my masculine energy in order to protect and provide for myself -- so much so that I began to embody a persona those closest to me referred to as, “Ice Queen”. I was so stuck in an energetic state of “fight or flight” and self-preservation that I quickly lost sight of my femininity... I could feel it and others around me could feel it.
I was hard. I was aggressive. I was angry. I was hustling. I was chasing. I was forcing. I was defensive. I was arrogant and insecure. I was bitter. And I was afraid.
I was exhausted by the realities which my life had presented me with and the opportunities required (for a time) that I “man up”. I do not blame myself for this reliance... I’m grateful and learned so much through it all. However eventually, in my exhaustion, I was drawn toward femininity as my energetic pendulum began to sway in search and NEED of a healthier existence.
My personal, professional, and spiritual growth/experiences over a decade have revealed and -- like rungs on a ladder -- lead me to take inspired action toward creating and implementing the FITUITIVE philosophy I’m known for in my coaching and programs today. It has been such a blessing to discover other souls who have experienced similar events in their lives... lessons and opportunities that have led them on their own journey toward healing and transformation: physically, mentally, spiritually, and energetically.
FEMININELY.
What is your biggest passion? Do you feel like you're living your passion and purpose?
I am a passionate advocate of womens femininity — specifically as it relates to fitness — because I see a tragic disconnect between a hyper-masculine (hustle/grind/aggressive) fitness industry and what women want/need energetically to be healthy and thrive. Women fear losing their femininity, and often don’t know what that even means to them personally. We fear getting older. We fear losing the attention of our partner. We fear failure. We fear success! We fear disappointing others... and we are struggling to define our personal/collective roles in a culture that is ever changing the definition of what it means to “be a woman”. Femininity feels elusive ... hopeless, even. So, a passionate driving force in my heart-to-heart coaching with women is to offer solutions for this problem — empowering them with knowledge, awareness, practical tools, and experiences that reveal their value, the beauty of their body, and of just how much magic they are naturally capable.
Life has blessed me with opportunities to personally practice the radical responsibility and self-awareness I preach; integrity in fitness, in relationships, spiritually, energetically, and professionally. In pain I’ve found there is power and in progress we ultimately find our purpose. For the past 10 years it has been my calling and blessing to empower others in bettering their bodies and learning to trust their intuition, actively choosing faith over fear.
What is your joy blueprint? What lights you up, brings you joy, and makes you feel the most alive?
My Grandpa lived a life full of constant self-education and he instilled an unquenchable thirst for learning in me from a young age. I am constantly learning, constantly growing, constantly researching topics that empower me to empower others in love, life, and health. I am always content, but never satisfied. I believe I am and have more than enough right now, for the reality I am living... but my current state will not support where I am called to go and so in order to also BE enough a year from now, I MUST SHIFT. I must grow. I must progress ... in that progress is my purpose.
I am most full of joy when I am challenging myself and experience growth in life. Whether that is in the gym physically, in my spiritual practice, in my relationships/love life, in my business/finances. It all comes full circle to choosing joy everyday in the actions that I take internally and externally. I have always believed JOY to be set apart from happiness -- JOY is a state of mind/experience, a sense of peace, that we have control over and can choose to experience internally despite external realities or variables. We create our reality with our thoughts. “And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. Keep putting into practice all you learned and received from me—everything you heard from me and saw me doing. Then the God of peace will be with you.” -- Philippians 4:8-9
... and actively choosing JOY is a must.
How do you live intentionally? Are there tools/resources/practices that you rely on to help you stay mindful and grounded?
I purpose to practice PRESENCE with myself in spirit daily. I check my astrology / planetary alignments as they relate to my birth chart like I check the weather report. I have found this to be immensely practical and helpful in my life... supporting a heightened personal awareness of my energy and ability to respond to life with love and peace rather than reactivity. My morning meditation time involves a prayer of intention followed by tarot/oracle communion with the Holy Spirit / Creator God and intentioned journaling / written affirmations. I then listen to audio affirmations and repeat them out loud during my short drive to work every morning. Mid-day I like to press pause on my activities in order to meditate for 10-30minutes (depending on what my schedule allows). And of course, I prioritize physical activity every day -- it will look different depending on my goals, but the gym has been my therapy/church for 10years. In the last year or so, implementing a regular yoga/mobility practice has become a form of physical meditation along with my more strenuous workouts that optimize my internal health through my 3D reality.
What would your younger self think about what you're doing now?
My younger self would probably think my current self and what I’m doing completely KARAZAY and she would totally judge me for some of my choices LOL ... and I’m a million percent OK with that! I fondly appreciate who I was as a younger woman, but I am so grateful for who I am in the present and how I have grown.
Do you have a go-to mantra or affirmation?
Honestly, my affirmations flex depending on what my soul needs to hear. But the overarching quote that has led me through life was given to me by my Grandpa when I turned 16,
“Be mindful of your opportunities. They are not always obvious. They are not always good. Seek and choose with wisdom and foresight.” -- William L. Zietzke
What is your biggest dream?
Complete financial freedom and abundance in service of feminine transformation, my family and loved ones!
