I'd love it if you'd introduce yourself, what you do, and what you're working on.
Hi, my name is Carla Maree and I am a girl on a huge mission to make the world a happier place. I am super passionate about helping others bring more joy and smiles into their lives. I do a hybrid of things
I am an entrepreneur - I own and run two businesses in Woy Woy NSW. One is an Anytime fitness gym franchise and the other is a Hot Yoga school. I have been running these for about 10 years now.
I teach yoga, meditation, and work as a personal trainer at the above two business.
My third business is working as a happiness and mindset coach - helping people learn to say yes to life.
I am the author of the best-selling book Find Your Happy Say Yes to Life, and the host of the chart-topping podcast Get Happy Hour.
As much as I love working and helping others, I am also an Auntie, a dog mum, a friend and such a big lover of life. I am passionate about travelling, laughing, and experiencing as many awesome experiences as I possibly can.
I am always working on something within myself. Something I am focused on currently is getting a little more flexible in all areasof life. I love routines and can often catch myself being too dogmatic, so I am working on changing some routines up and trying to challenge myself to do something or taste something I have not before.
How did you get started?
I had a dream as a girl to be an actress and to travel the world. I’ve packed my bags and jet set away to New York and London and then backpacked my way around the globe. After my visa and money ran out, I landed back in Australia broke, lost and had no idea what I wanted to do with my life. All I knew is that I wanted to be happy and didn’t want to do anything with my life that sucked my soul.
I was passionateaboutfitness and helping others and after a conversation about opening a gym and not ever thinking it was possible, I decided to prove myself wrong. From then,Ifellin love with entrepreneurship and yoga and wanted to be able to offer that to others. This was the start of myinner journey.I discovered the power of meditation and learnt what true happiness is. I honestly never saw this all comingandstill pinch myselfat times. But all I know is that the universe is helping us and if we allow ourselves to tap into our intuition, truth and true happiness and the rest justmagicallyshows up.
What Inspired the work you’re doing?
To be honest I look back and can’t believe I do what I do. I never once, as a child, thought that I would be a yoga or meditation teacher (I used to hate both). I never really thought I'd be a happiness coach and especially an author. But what I do know is that, since I was a little girl, I loved to help people, I loved doing things that made me smile, laugh, and feel truly alive. As soon as I could, I packed my bags and set of backpacking things and traveled for three years and I just loved how present it made me, how much it taught me about life and how much life has to offer. I always loved to entertain and hold a space that people could feel safe and welcome. I started my career as an Actor and then I just followed the synchrodestiny, signs and gifts that showed up along my path. I leaned into doing what made me happy, not what paid the bills, and 10 years later I still pinch myself that I have created this amazing life doing what makes my heart sing.
What is your biggest passion? Do you feel like you're living your passion and purpose?
I honestly don’t think I have just one passion. I love being passionate about so much - travel, health, yoga, and the beach. But I think my biggest passion is making the best of my life, having awesome experiences and being grateful for what I have been given. Also, to do as much as I can to help myself laugh and smile every day and to help as many others as I can laugh and smile and find their happy.
What is your joy blueprint? What lights you up, brings you joy, and makes you feel the most alive?
My gosh I have so many joy blueprints. I do as much as I can daily to add them into my day. Some of my everydayfavourites:
Meditation - first thing.
Fresh celery juice (makes me feel so awesome and a great start to the morning).
I teach yoga or do a workout as I love to move my body and shift my energy.
I jump in the ocean (I try to do this every day of the year), throw my hands in the air and say THANK YOU
Read in the sunshine with an almond cappuccino
Write in my gratitude journal
Working with my clients always makes me smile and gives me lots of laughing
Some days I have a sauna and meditate before I go to bed
The sun makes me happy: I love it so much and love how it makes me feel
How do you live intentionally? Are there tools/resources/practices that you rely on to help you stay mindful and grounded?
I do my very best everyday to live intentionally, and for me, it’s a daily practice as it’s so easy to get caught up in the busyness of life and all the running around and forget to just be still and present.
I start my day with meditation
I love to say “thankyou, thankyou, thankyou” and practice gratitude as much as I can
I love to teach and practice yoga as it reminds me of my breath and being fully present
I love to jump in the ocean each day,365 days a year if I can, as it has the power to bring me back, ground and remind me again of the blessing I have been given
What would your younger self think about what you're doing now?
I would just tell myself not to care about what others think and do what feels true to me. I would continue to remind myself to make decisions based on my heart not my head, do what makes me feel good and make sure to smile everyday.
Do you have a go-to mantra or affirmation?
I have two that are my favourite
“It’s a great day to have a great day”
“Thank You, thankyou, thankyou”
“Carla, get out of your head, come back to your body.”
What is your biggest dream?
I’m not sure I have just one dream (that’s really hard). I want to live the best life I can, have as many laughs and adventures as I can, and help as many people as I can to live an awesome life that they love too.
