Adita Yrizarry-Lang is a SuperPower aficionado and mother of two. Her “Journey” started as a fitness instructor 30+ years ago. She taught her first class at 16 and taught at her first fitness conference at 18. The world opened itself up from there, and Adita had accounts reaching from the US to Hong Kong, to Spain and beyond, she maintained a constant global travel schedule teaching both classes and lectures to thousands of fitness professionals on everything imaginable “fitness”.

Somewhere in the midst of it all, a car accident broke her vertebra and, although she recovered rather quickly, it left her looking at life with fresh eyes (and 2 inches shorter than when she started, but that's a whole other story). Fitness was still important, but health and wellness became more prevalent than ever. Adita began seeing how quality foods, as well as sleep and recovery were a vital component of overall health and vitality. Her lectures and writings all began to reflect this new direction and life continued on a new path.

Adita loves what she does, and since then she’s expanded her endeavors, from a biomechanics and resistance training expert to nutritional guru, mind-body coach, author of SuperPowers, A Busy Woman’s Guide to Health and Happiness, and women’s advocate for healthy living. Adita holds a degree in Holistic Nutrition, is a Lv3 Holistic LifestyleCoach through the Chek Institute, and has been accredited by several health organizations. She has trained thousands of fitness professionals’ worldwide and often speaks at schools, Fortune 500 companies, and private organizations on the benefits of quality foods, longevity, and amazing health.

Adita’s mission is to encourage individuals to live Inspired. She wants to bring out the challenges and offer solutions to make SuperPowers shine and life thrive on. Through her social media, blog posts, and video Adita wants to bring out the trials and tribulations of life and offer solutions that can be easily incorporated into one’s day to make SuperPowers shine and thrive on better than ever! I'd love it if you'd introduce yourself, what you do, and what you're working on.

Hi there my name is Adita Yrizarry-Lang and I am a holistic lifestyle coach, speaker, and author who is enamored with the SuperPowers of health. I have been blessed to train fitness professionals around the globe, speak at corporate events, and inspire so many to change their health and increase their vitality all with a smile! I just finished my second book called SuperPowers of the Family Kitchen and I am working on developing several on-line programs to help both men and women navigate their health and well-being simple and seamless.

How did you get started?

I actually started when I was 16 years old, my mother and I were having some challenges and a friend had suggested this new form of exercise called aerobics. We took our first class together, she left, and I became passionate about it. At that time hiring instructors was all about training your students instead. When I asked the director if I could be trained, she thought I was a bit young and wasn’t sure if the adult participants would actually respond to me. She was willing to give it a try, and I ended up fitting right in. I loved teaching and my students love coming to class, and that was all that mattered. From there, I moved over to another studio who hired Ken Alan, an aerobics guru from Los Angeles, to come and train us. Shortly after that IDEA, an association for exercise professionals, was formed and Ken invited me to teach with him at the first conference in Anaheim. This made way to so many doors opening up for me. The opportunities were endless and I have enjoyed every minute of it.

What inspired the work that you're doing?

Several things have inspired the work that I do. It first started when I broke my back in a car accident, the doctors were talking about surgery but I made it to the gym with my back brace to work out instead. Five months before I was supposed to take the brace off, the doctors told me that I was fine, and the brace could come off. This gave me a huge insight to back pain and back care. Many years after that I trained an amazing woman named Penny. She’s been in a wheelchair for 14 years, with no real cause to be in the chair. I took everything I knew and got her to start walking. When we have this kind of impact on a humans life, it makes everything we do worth doing.

What is your biggest passion? Do you feel like you're living your passion and purpose?

My biggest passion is the ability to help and inspire my kids and others to live their purpose. When I see my kids flourish and I realize that they have been listening to more than I give them credit for, it gives me an amazing sense of accomplishment. Additionally, I love teaching others how to change their health for the better, watch them lose weight, watch them gain more energy, and get rid of years and years of physical pain. I definitely feel like I’m living my passion and my purpose, just the ability to inspire someone to make the slightest change and to see how it impacts their health and their world is mesmerizing for me.

What is your joy blueprint? What lights you up, brings you joy, and makes you feel the most alive?

My joy blueprint starts off with my kids. I tell people all the time that I’m growing an adult from scratch in my children. It gives me great joy to think that everything I teach them is going to reflect the type of adult they are going to become. I think two things make me feel the most alive. The first is watching my children grow up and mature, and seeing how each experience and adventure has become a part of who they are. The next is when I speak to a large group of people and I can see the light bulbs go off in their heads. When they ask questions, there's an excitement because they feel like someone understands what they've been going through, and they can finally see a light at the end of the tunnel. I b

How do you live intentionally? Are there tools/resources/practices that you rely on to help you stay mindful and grounded?

The way I live intentionally is to practice mindfulness on a day-to-day basis. I like to start off my day with motivational videos, I let them play throughout the house as I’m getting ready for work. By the time I leave my house, I am excited to get my day started. I also don’t sweat the small stuff anymore, I think as you get older you realize that what other people think doesn’t really matter, and that you have to really live the life that you want to live in the best way possible. One of the best ways that I keep myself grounded is through writing. Writing in a journal, a blog post, or even a chapter in one of my books, helps me bring clarity to my thoughts and actions and keeps me inspired to share with others.

What would your younger self think about what you're doing now?

I think my younger self would be thrilled. I have always been one to take risks and move forward but when I was younger, I still had several mental blocks that would hold me back. This older version of myself is really trying to remove most of those blocks and I’m enjoying this journey even more. I can see the doors opening and I feel more empowered to learn throughout my journey.

Do you have a go-to mantra or affirmation?

"I am woman hear me roar". It may sound goofy, but for most of my life I allowed men to rule. Honestly I don’t know where that came from, but for once in my life I know that I can do just about anything, and that’s my plan!

What is your biggest dream?

My biggest dream is what I’m doing now, but on a larger scale. I’d love to be the Oprah of health and wellness, the one that shares the good, the bad, and the ugly about creating a healthier day to day. I want to show others that it's really pretty easy to live a healthy life, we simply need to knock down some of those blocks and move past them, love ourselves, and cherish the good parts of our day. I want to be the one who speaks from her truth, makes you laugh, and encourages you to make the right choices to live an amazing life.
